Modelling MOG antibody-associated disorder and neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder in animal models: spinal cord manifestations

چکیده

Antibodies to myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG-IgG) or aquaporin 4 (AQP4-IgG) are associated with CNS inflammatory disorders. We directly compared MOG35-55-induced experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis exacerbated by MOG- and AQP4-IgG (versus isotype IgG, Iso-IgG). Disease severity was highest after MOG-IgG application. administration increased disease incidence Iso-IgG. Inflammatory lesions appeared earlier distinct localizations administration. AQP4 intensity more reduced AQP4- than at acute phase. The described models suitable for comparative analyses of pathological features the investigation therapeutic interventions.

Contribution of spinal cord biopsy to diagnosis of aquaporin-4 antibody positive neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder.

Longitudinally extensive transverse myelitis is characteristic but not pathognomonic for neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders (NMOSDs) and may mimic local tumors. In this retrospective study based on a cohort of 175 NMOSD patients we identified seven patients who initially presented with a longitudinally extensive spinal cord lesion and underwent spinal cord biopsy due to magnetic resonance ...

Tumefactive Brain Lesions in Patients with Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum Disorder

Background: Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum Disorder (NMOSD) is an autoimmune neurological disorder that is characterized by optic neuritis and longitudinally-extended transverse myelitis lesions in spinal segments. Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) findings are part of the diagnostic process in NMOSD patients, and abnormal lesion patterns may cause deviation from a correct diagnosis.  Clinical P...

Sleep abnormality in neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder

OBJECTIVES We investigated the sleep structure of patients with neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) and the association of abnormalities with brain lesions. METHODS This was a prospective cross-sectional study. Thirty-three patients with NMOSD and 20 matched healthy individuals were enrolled. Demographic and clinical characteristics of patients were collected. Questionnaires were u...

Brain Abnormalities in Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum Disorder

Neuromyelitis optica (NMO) is an idiopathic inflammatory syndrome of the central nervous system that is characterized by severe attacks of optic neuritis (ON) and myelitis. Until recently, NMO was considered a disease without brain involvement. However, since the discovery of NMO-IgG/antiaqaporin-4 antibody, the concept of NMO was broadened to NMO spectrum disorder (NMOSD), and brain lesions ar...
